Week ending 28th Feb 2020

Welcome to my Friday dribble where we talk things agri sport and life.

Amazing weather pattern this week. A cyclone developed in the gulf, then moved inland and westward…directly towards a cyclone off the Pilbara coast…very weird. But some forward looking weather models have the whole thing developing into a massive rain depression covering the whole eastern half of the continent.

The market coped a pasting this week on the back of the Mexican beer virus, but the media are the stars. Every time this happens, they are very quick to tell us “X” Billion has been wiped off the market. Funny how they never do that on the upside….drama and fear sell way better..!!

Plenty of company reports out this week in amongst the negative market. Anything tourism related is copping it, plus the China facing stocks, except for the infant formula players which seem to be immune, so to speak.

One stock that was meant to report was BGA. Sounds like someone dropped some Vegemite down the back of the computer as they had to postpone due to software/ computer issues. No cheesy numbers here..!!

Don’t often mention climate change in this column mainly because the quality of the debate in this country is lower that a gecko’s tummy, but this comment for a former PM caught my eye. Quote: A policy which opposes net zero emissions by 2050, is a policy of 3 degrees plus global warming and an uninhabitable planet. Really..??? Can the debate become anymore unrealistic…?? Uninhabitable planet….What planet is Malcolm living on..?? Let’s make changes but be real……..

Silly stuff for the week. Check out the photo below. A very big Rolls Royce SUV. Wonder how it would perform on the roads out back of Bourke..???
