Week ending 14th Feb 2020
Welcome to my Friday dribble where we talk things agri sport and life.
I spent part of this week travelling around the bush. Left in torrential rain here on Sunday and by the afternoon I went through a dust storm between Mildura and Renmark…see below.
There has been good rain around NSW with storms in most regions expect the far west. Around Dubbo and south from there looks pretty good.
The feedback from my trip out west was that the grape harvest might be a bit light on because of the drought and December/January heat.
As we roll into half year reporting season it will be interesting to try and gauge the sentiment on some companies around the impact of the coronavirus.
Take feel good pill maker BKL for example. They are highly exposed to the China trade story, like the infant formula makers, and at this point, things look tough and could get tougher.
On sport footy season cranks up soon for most codes. The crazy people running the Super 14 rugby have already started…they played a game in Canberra a week or so back in 41 degree heat. What fun that would have been packing down into a scrum…!!!
The second photo is of Australia’s biggest irrigation canal. The Murray River.
